Taking care of a person with Dementia can be complex as it requires skill, dedication and determination. The Dementia India report 2010 has estimated that over 3.7 million people are affected by dementia in India. This is expected to double by 2030.
THE NEED:
The prevalence of dementia also increases with age. By the age of 65 years, the ratio of people affected is 1 in 20 increasing to 1 in 5 by the age of 85 years.
As a result, clinical / medical care services are likely to spend more time caring for people with dementia, many with complex needs. But with a better understanding of treatment and care, there is more scope to make real improvements in the quality of life for people who are affected. One of the important components of dementia services is training.
