Sandhya Kirana – Day Care Centre for disadvantaged elders

Sandhya Kirana was set up in 2004 in partnership with the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (City Civic Corporation), with the intention of providing daycare facilities to economically disadvantaged senior citizens, where they can spend their day time with a range of services and facilities to fulfill their social, physical, financial and emotional needs. It ensures a better quality of life for disadvantaged elders.  All the services are rendered FREE OF COST


All senior citizens are eligible for registration.  Over 50 elders avail of these services every day. The services available are :

Health and Hygiene: Basic medical check-up, treatment for minor ailments, referral services, physiotherapy, yoga and fitness programmes, health education, counselling and health camps.


Skill Development and Income Generation: Identifying and utilising elders’ skills and interests. Income generation through manufacture of greeting cards, paper bags, dolls, candles, mats, etc. Articles produced are sold by our team.

Recreation: Facilities like television, library, video shows, talks, cultural programmes, picnics, outings and interactions with the younger generation.

Midday Meals: Nutritious lunch is provided to all members.
