Inauguration of Red Cross – Nightingales Trust Dementia Day Care Centre, Hyderabad
The Red Cross-Nightingales Trust Dementia Care Centre was inaugurated by the honorable Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State, Sri E.S.L Narsimhanon 31st march 2017 at Banjara Hills Road Number 2, L V Prasad Marg, Park view Enclave Hyderabad. While appreciating the services rendered by Nightingales Medical Trust and the Indian Red Cross Society, the Governor stated that changes in life style and the excessive dependency on technological advances have led to problems associated with memory loss and cognitive impairments; thereby emphasizing on the need for such rehabilitative service centers.
Dr. RadhaMurty, Managing Trustee, Nightingales Medical Trust stressed on the need for dementia day care centers as it has become an epidemic. She expressed her gratitude towards the Indian Red Cross Society Telangana State for the opportunity to work together. The inaugural also saw the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Indian Red Cross Society Telangana State and Nightingales Medical Trust.
This center will be India’s largest Dementia Day Care facility with over 50 elders being catered to each day. The centre aims to provide social, cognitive and physical rehabilitation to elders in Hyderabad; it will also work towards creating awareness on mental health.
