Having successfully established various need based projects in and around Bangalore, NMT has now expanded its services to Hyderabad. The Red Cross - Nightingales Trust Dementia Day Care Centre established jointly with the Indian Red Cross Society - Telangana State, is India’s largest Dementia Day Care Centre located in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad with a capacity to cater to the needs of 50 Persons with Dementia (PwD).
The centre supports the health, nutritional, social and daily living needs of PwD in a professionally managed group setting. Thus they are ensured a safe and friendly environment while the caregiver is relieved of his/her caregiving duties for the day. Through a structured cognitive, physical and social rehabilitation program, the centre aims at helping PwDs to attain an optimal level of functioning. All activities at the centre are intended to instil confidence and promote independence in day to day tasks as much as possible.
Activities at the Centre include:
> Physiotherapy and rehabilitation
> Group and individual exercises and games
> Reality orientation
> Music therapy
> Reminiscence activities
> Leisure and hobbies

My mother has greatly benefitted from the program conducted by the Red Cross - Nightingales Trust Dementia Care Centre. She is involved in many creative activities on a daily basis like drawing, puzzle solving, cooking and Physiotherapy at the Centre. I have seen a drastic change in her health and activity since she has been enrolled. She seems to be mentally happier, and physically active. She truly has a great time with the volunteers and staff there. I would like to thank the team for this wonderful improvement in my mother’s life.

Our experience has been good at the Red Cross - Nightingales Trust Dementia Day Care Centre, We have observed improvement in my father who is having vascular dementia. My father is now more alert, speaks well, able to hold pen and pencil, reads newspaper headlines and responds to commands well. He is able to do a few day-to-day activities with minimum supervision. All staff members are cordial and very helpful in nature. For this we are sincerely grateful and want to share our appreciation.

My mother is diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. She used the day care facilities at the Nightingales Trust Centre for a month and was quite active during the month. The staff are friendly and helpful. The administrator is quite responsive and communicates the progress at regular intervals. Many thanks to the staff for supporting the elderly with affection and utmost care.
